Multicultural Education versus the Common Culture
Modernized procreation exceptionally makes it accomplish up to(p) for every individual to develop as a pretty individual that he ought to be. As a primary part of the society, each individual is entitled to an education that is made to give him the needed noesis that he ought to receive for him to have a better outlook on life. Certainly, educations principal(prenominal) aim is to create a possibility for each individual to develop as a fine member of the human society. The unwashed stupefy-up of education has been originated from the local-based instruction and consumeing growth. The students ar taught by their teachers in a classroom with which the students belong to one race and atomic number 18 mostly having the same situation in an stinting perspective. However, the roughhewn culture in providing education to the younger generation of each civilization already changed with the presentment of the new technologies and the new system of economy as suggested by the glo bal trade. Through the aims of economists to create a global market of people who be interconnected for the sake of the advancement of global economy, the introduction of modern technological communication devices were also made possible. The creation of network connections through the utilization of Internet has been a primary prove of the tell globalization movement. On the other organisation of the situation, it could be observed that some other result of the said movement towards economic liberalization is that there argon numerous immigrants who opt to transportation places or even countries to be able to cope up with the major changes in the society oddly with regards the economic progress. As a result, several classrooms nigh the world be subjected to assisting students from diametric cultures, different races that are also having their own individual capabilities as per based form the race that they primarily belong to. digression form this, the primary subjects that used to be the only topics that are discussed indoors the four walls of the classroom increase and were added up with particular societal issues that mainly concerns the multi-racial classes that they handle. For this creator, this paper shall discuss the ethical issues, the educational problems and the teaching adjustments that are taken by educators in presenting their slightons to their classes. By doing so, the author of this paper then aims to particularly address the issues brought somewhat by modernization towards the common culture that used to be the basis of knowledge enhancement during the knightly decades of human society. The importance of education in the human society has mainly made it a reason of debate among education enthusiasts and experts who are concerned on which type of education is actually more efficacious for the society common culture education or the multicultural education, which is currently a trend in the field of education. To know both faces o f the argument, knowing what the both ids of the debate pertain to, would garter much in the clearing of the issue. What is the Common Culture all almost?Mostly, traditional educational institutions plainly deal with the draw lessons that are supposed to be taught to the students. This includes subjects such as Mathematics, Language, acquaintance, Crafts or Home Economics and History. These particular subjects are taught to a group of students who are coming from the same race and are having a common ground. Hence, the focusing of the education is more on providing the students with the necessary knowledge that they need to incur for better individual developments earlier than focusing on the friendly involvement of the young learners. It is by the outlined pattern of teaching common education that only the essential factors of life are taught to the students within the classrooms. While on the other hand, the hearty current events are to be learned by the students on their ow n way as it is visualize as a common responsibility of humans as major parts of the society.According to those who takes side in this part of the issue, common education helps the students understand the lessons fully since they are asked to focus only on the most essential factors of education that they need to know which are believed to have a great invasion upon their lives later on. (Mayor, 1992, 13)Furthermore, the arguments pertain to the fact that teachers who are commissioned to teach only based on common culture education have a greater capability of addressing to their subjects more closely because they are less pressured to see to it that the students are also able to grasp the other subjects that are added up in multicultural education. (Cortes, 1976, 45)The Nature of Multicultural EducationBecause of the globalization movement that is presently adapted to by different countries around the world, immigration has become a common trend especially among entrepreneurs and other workers who find better lives in living abroad. As a result, education too has taken a new face of development. Because of the said advancements, the situation within classrooms became a mixture of students from different races trying to cope up with the subjects that are taught to them in a different setting as compared to their original localitys traditional practice of teaching and educating students. To support this particular fact, the following report pertains to the fact that immigration is a great cause of social divisibilityMost new immigrants to the coupled States are coming from Spanish speaking Latin American nations and from Asia instead than from Europe. Between 1981 and 1990, 87% of the legal immigrants to the United States came from non-European nations while 10% came from Europe. Most Asian immigrants came from China, Korea, the Philippines, and India while Mexico and nations in the Caribbean were leading sources of immigrants from the Americas. (U.S. Bureau of the Census, 1994).True, many students in the United States alone came from different races around the world. Hence, to be able to create a common ground among the students, the inculcation of social studies within the curriculum is then agnise to be among the most effective practice of teaching culturally divided students. As a result, bread makers study on the issue has the following findingsTeachers currently find themselves adrift in a seemingly endless sea of school reform literature and policies. More everyplace, the often acrimonious, and increasingly politicized public debates about educational issues (phonics versus whole language, immersion versus English as a second language, basic skills versus problem solving) these practitioners face additional challenges, including poverty, violence, overcrowding, and huge bureaucracies, which drain precious energy from the primary goal of opening students minds. (Baker, 97, Internet)From the findings cited above, it could be notic e that one of the particular results of the said adaptation to multicultural-based learning is the stress that is placed upon the teachers and the students. In addition, the subjects are duple and thus more works and research are supposed to be completed, especially focusing upon social events that are currently reported. Certainly, these situations within the classrooms makes it hard for the educators and the learners to grasp as much as their minds could with the bundle of responsibilities that are required to them for learning their multi-cultural based subjects. In a more concise discussion, it could be observed that multicultural education simply aims to attend to the call for of the students of the present generation. Since globalization caused immigrants to fly to different countries abroad, attending to their needs as students is also essential for social development. The Ethical IssuesAlthough the created curriculum for worldwide classes are designed to help the students u nderstand humanity as a whole and not as an individual race, it could not be denied that these particular subjects raise the questions of discrimination between the students. Most often than not, its either superiority or lower rank that the students feel towards their own race when they are given the chance to join international classes.Actually, the creation of international learning classes aims to open up the minds of the students to the fact that they are of a great importance to a emergence society of a developed human civilization. This is the reason why it is necessary to address ethical motive within the subjects that are taught in classrooms. This is because of the fact that the lessons may address several issues on the connection of culture towards the particular ethical practices of the society. The educators should carefully address this while assisting their students understands the lessons that they ought to grasp. To be able to avoid being subjected to particular iss ues of ethics and problems alike, it is suggested that the students are taught about cultural equality starting from their pre-school years.Young children can develop stereotypic viewpoints of cultures different from their own when similarities among all individuals are not emphasized. Teachers can help eliminate stereotypes by presenting material and activities that change children to learn the similarities of all individuals. Circle time is particularly helpful in this respect, as it provides children with a intuitive feeling of group identity and introduces them to the variety of cultures represented in the class (Dixon and Fraser, 1986).This suggestion would actually work if the students are made torealize that discrimination is a social sickness that keeps the human civilization form progressing to the silk hat possibilities that they could be, fashioning their differences work for the sake of social development. The Involvement of TechnologyTechnology has a great routine in providing students from different countries the education that they need to know through the utilization of the Internet. People from all over the world are able to access education within the convenience that they are satisfied with. A part of this particular educational innovation with the integration of teaching and technology, it has been possible for this particular educational set up to host cultural crossover among students. It is through this particular advancement that students are able to learn about their classmates cultural background in a broader view of their importance in the society. It is by this process that the students are given a chance to see others in a more balanced way. determinationEducation is a render given to everyone. Not a single person should be denied of this provision whatever race he may come from. People from over the world are making several progresses pertaining to becoming globally connected to each other. The cultural crossover as a result of the globalization movement should then be used for the betterment of the entire human society.Through education and accurate knowledge of others worth to the society, the social issues and the ethical questions that are raised because of the differences of the races from each other could be gradually eliminated. Yes, education itself is the key to a more peaceful, progressive society that has particularly burst-out from a multicultural society.BIBLIOGRAPHYDixon, G.T. & Fraser, S. (1986). INTRODUCTION1.1 Background of the Problem mystic Rose initiate of Caloo great deal Inc. was founded by Dr. Marcelina Gregore in 1993. It is located at Ilang-Ilang Street, Almar Subdivision, Camarin, Caloocan urban center. Since the day the school has been founded they were victimisation the manual(a) program library dodge, which give them hard time to demo totally the cultivation. The library has this Accession intensity where t he incoming phonograph recordings and information ab stunned the books are recorded. The book records were done manually. Every time a bookman asks about a kind of book, the librarian finds it hard to locate, because she still needs to go through the tend in the Accession Book. Although each book has a unique Accession Number still the librarian couldnt misrepresent to find it easily because the records of the books in the Accession Book are according to the find received. It takes more time for the librarian to find the record of each book. The librarian in like manner encounter problems in encoding the books information because of disorganized records because information about the books is world unproctored, in a way that somewhat books are non yet listed on the Accession Book. And aside from the Accession Book they are similarly using the Card Catalog which serves as a guide in locating the books. There are huge amount of books in the library. It has different volumes, e ditions, authors, class, titles, subjects, grades and publishers, and the accession government issue which set as a unique identity in every book in their library. It is very hard for the librarian to monitor all the books especially when it is encoded manually.1.2 Overview of the Current State of technologyA disciple who go out use the library must log in first to the attendance book before they enter the library. They have to sate up the information needed like date, students name, year & section, time in and out and their signature. If they leave alone borrow books the librarian provide record it to the log book. The people who can use the subroutine library are the students, faculty and the Librarian. The Librarian is not postulate to go to the library every day. The librarian is on call. She has a schedule when to go to the school. When the librarian is not on schedule, the Aid takes the place on the play of thelibrarian.A student is allowed to borrow how many books they want when they are in the library. The student is also allowed to borrow two books with duration of two days. If the student failed to return the books within two days they are not allowed to borrow books the next time they borrow. And they are not allowed to bring it at home instead they could solely borrow when they are inside the library. If the student lost the book, they must replace it with the same book. If the faculty testament borrow books they could borrow books as frequently as they want, there is no limitation. The process of recording the students information was done manually by recording on a log book where every student who enters the library needs to fill up the information such as name, section, year level and the date. Same as the book records, the librarian needs to record the book title, author, book number according to its date received and the date to the Accession Book. The record of the books is not ordered properly because it was arranged according to its date received not alphabetically or by subject matter. The system takes a lot of time and endeavor to handle so the librarian must ensure to keep dawn the records in the library.1.3 Project RationaleThe following will benefit to the proposed System* Mystical Rose give lessons of Caloocan Inc.The school will be able to experience a Computerized library System. High School and Feliciaââ¬â¢s Life Essay
A photo of genus Felicia with nones from her classmates. The friend, Briana Torres, at 16 a year older and a grade ahead of Felicia, hugged her and walked her to sixth-period English class, the girls arms clasped most each others shoulders. On the way, Felicia cheered up enough to laugh at a joke, and make a joke of her own. But there were signs of unraveling. Late Monday night, she had posted a brief cheep message I cant, im done, I give up. After school Wednesday, Felicia walked to the Staten Island Railway station where umteen students board trains home. She waited impatiently for the train, and as it approached, she hurled herself backward onto the tracks. A friend grabbed her arm, hardly she twisted free. She was pronounced fallen that evening. By the time her friends began to congregate in the hospital waiting room, posting messages on Twitter and Facebook in what would become a flurry of online speculation ab egress her death, most had pinpointed a cause Felicia had been bullied, they utter, torment by football players on Tottenvilles undefeated police squad. Some verbalise she was teased because she had piercings and lived in encourage care.Others said players had spread sexual boasts about her over the weekend, after Tottenvilles 16-8 victory over sort Richmond High shoal. To many friends, she appeared to weather the swirl of innuendo with her usual confidence. She never really reached out for help she was a really tough person, Briana said Thursday, wearing a small tri just nowe on her left wrist an RIP Felicia inked in purple. When I dropped her off at class, I wasnt really worried about her. Felicia had reported the taunts to an administrator, who arranged mediation sessions between Felicia and the boys she said were harassing her. Police are now investigating her death. Neither they nor the Education Department nor the school would comment on the bullying allegations. There was already little that was easy in Felicias life. Friends de scribed her childhood as a patchwork of loss and instability both her parents died when she was young, and she disliked living with her aunt, said Kaitlyn Antonmarchi, 15, who said she had been Felicias best friend since eighth grade. At one point, Felicia ran away from her aunts house with an older man. After she entered the foster system, she bounced in and out of different homes, dyed her downcast hair red and sprouted a cluster of piercings. With her latest foster parents, Felicia finally seemed elated and stable, Kaitlyn said. Moving to the other side of Staten Island, she started high school at Tottenville, improved her grades, let the dye sweep out and eliminated most piercings. At Fridays football hazard, Kaitlyn said She looked happy. She was laughing. It didnt look like anything was upsetting her at all. Bullying is common at the school, classmates said, but administrators usually acted to stop it, and it rarely reached the level that Felicia experienced. Tease Felici a, and she would come back with a quick, witty retort, said Alissa Compitello, 17, a senior. If you tried to bully her, shed laugh at you, she said. Somebody mustve said something pretty bad about her for this to happen. They just wouldnt stop. On Wednesday, Felicia had asked Karl Geiling, 15, a sophomore at Tottenville, about how his test had gone. He cut her at the train station later. I was way down, away from her, he said. All I heard was screams, and thusly everybody went silent. At school on Thursday, many students wore black and purple, colors often associated with anti-bullying campaigns, and met with grief counselors. A force of about 500 gathered at the station in the evening, many holding candles. Someone had buttoned purple and black balloons to a chain-link fence overlooking the tracks, with notes and a photo fluttering alongside them. As their classmates created anti-bullying Facebook pages in Felicias honor Wednesday night, several football players took to Twitter to protest what they saw as the wholesale tarring of the team, which is a perennial favorite to win the Public School Athletic League championship. At least two seniors have been offered scholarships to play Division I college football.None of you even no fractional the story so stop pointing fingers at the football team, wrote James Munson, a safety on the team and the son of the teams coach, Jim Munson. Another player, Richy Lam, a senior, said Thursday that many members of the team had not even known Felicia. In New York, an anti-bullying statute signed in 2010, one of numerous laws passed virtually the country in the wake of teenage suicides, requires schools to develop policies to deter harassment of students by other students, including teaching programs and disciplinary procedures.Prosecutions for student bullying are rare perhaps the best-known case is that of Dharun Ravi, who was convicted of bias deterrence and invasion of privacy charges for using a webcam to spy on hi s Rutgers University roommate, Tyler Clementi, who committed suicide a few days later. Mr. Ravi was sentenced to 30 days in jail. Bullying that violates criminal law can be prosecuted criminally, but not as bullying, said Suzanne B. Goldberg, a law professor at Columbia Law School who directs its Center for Gender and Sexuality Law.Physical violence or threats of physical violence could be prosecuted, she said, but what most often happens is that schools and prosecutors try to keep these situations out of criminal court which can be catch if the school system takes the incident seriously, punishes the offender and protects the victim. It is not clear whether anyone will be disciplined in Felicias case. For some students, the schools next challenge is Fridays football game against the rival Curtis High School team, the last of the season, which may be pushed to Sunday. Felicia was a fan. When Kaitlyn last saw her, she said, she had been planning to cheer Tottenville this weekend. Sh e said, Yeah, Im going, Kaitlyn said. And I said, Ill see you there. Al Baker and Christopher Maag contributed reporting.

Joseph Rudyard Kipling Essay
The fritter away room was surprisingly empty. The door was crying tabu for some one to come open it. The cover lying on the table were rustling out loud, almost as if giving a token to use them. Beside were pens lying and whispering for someone to pick them up. The chair was looming for someone to come and use it for comfort. late the door opens with a crack. Kipling introduced a new type of story and brought out the knowledge of India more to other people around the arena by having it included in his stories. He made a differ ence in the world of writing by producing great novels such as Barrack-Room Ballads, etc. Kiplings life and work are extraordinary unlike those of any other English writer (Rudyard Kipling 1).
